Enjoy our Winter Wonderland

Skiing in MuskokaThe resort is situated on the shores of Lake of Bays in the heart of Muskoka, an area renowned in winter for its large annual snowfall, spectacular beauty, clean air, and abundance of wildlife.

Although snow arrives in this area as early as late October, winter conditions for outdoor activities are generally not reliable until some time during December. Downhill skiing and snowboarding may start during November if the weather is cold enough to make snow. Generally by Christmas there is lots of snow. The lake is usually frozen by early January and doesn't open up again until late April.

Our guests enjoy the benefits of having cottage accommodation. Families will appreciate the convenience of separate bedrooms. Couples will enjoy the privacy of their own cottage.

There is much to do and see at Blue Water Acres. There are more recreational facilities than most other resorts in Ontario. During winter there are multiple activities on site to choose from including skating, tubing, tobogganing, ice fishing and snowshoeing. Snowboarding, downhill skiing, cross country skiing, dog sledding, sleigh rides and snowmobiling are all available close by.

We know you will want to know as much as possible about where you will spend your winter vacation or a short breakaway. You'll be able to do this right here. There are many pages for you to explore with many photos and much information about the resort, the area, and our local attractions and services.

To avoid disappointment, it's a good idea to book your vacation as early as possible. Our rates are very competitive.

My friends and I had a blast when we were up in January. The weather was perfect and we did EVERYTHING!

Collectively divided by 4, we stood 200 years of wisdom and experience, at the top of the tubing hill, and laughed all the way to the bottom. We risked broken hips and lived to tell about it.

Add the snow angels on the pool deck, and you couldn’t ask for a better time.

The Pioneers Travelled This Way

You can still do it the ol' fashioned way. Snowshoeing is a great way to get around in pure virgin snow. In places where you would be waist deep in snow without snowshoes, you can easily traverse through the beautiful country side with them. It's fun, a bit tricky at first, and good exercise. Equipment can be rented at Blue Water Acres at a cost of $15 for 1/2 day.

The local fisherman must know something. Ice huts are randomly organized in an area where there must be a great fishing shelf. Everyone is always boasting about the size of the lake trout they caught today. Sometimes someone catches a whitefish too. Both are excellent eating fish.
