wildlife

There's plenty of wildlife to view

You may have to be an early riser. Bill and Annette, owners of Blue Water Acres, walk daily along roads leading to the resort. During these walks they've seen deer, moose, fox, bear, mink, martens, otter, beaver, squirrels, skunks, porcupines, raccoons, chipmunks, wolves, and many different species of birds. Wild animals generally avoid humans. However, they will cross your path from time to time while you're driving or walking. Guests who are early risers have seen them in the morning walking across the beach and open spaces while others are still asleep. They'll run as soon as they spot you. However, sometimes you'll be lucky enough to capture them with your camera.

April to June is the best time to view moose in Algonquin Park. It's rare not to spot one or more of these majestic creatures as you drive through the Park during this time of year.

biking

Discover Muskoka's Beauty on Bike

There are many back roads leading from Blue Water Acres that are ideal for cycling. We also have our own off road mountain cycling trail for the more adventuresome type. Additionally, there are special trails in Algonquin Park designated for mountain cycling. Many guests bring their bikes along as part of their vacation gear. You can rent adult and junior mountain bikes at Blue Water Acres, or from various sporting stores in Huntsville. Rental at Blue Water Acres is $10.00 for two hours (includes helmet).

hiking

Walk! jog! hike! and don't forget your camera!

You can enjoy the outdoors all year. Muskoka is beautiful any season. You can walk or jog for miles along peaceful country roads leading from the resort. You can also drive to Algonquin Park and hike along one of many nature trails. There's so much to see and do.

kids activities

There's no Vacation more Natural for Kids'

A private cottage - a bedroom separate from Mom & Dad - lots of open space in which to play - a safe sandy beach - a fun playground - an indoor pool -

indoor activities

Remember the contrast when you stayed in a motel or hotel. Everyone cramped into a room. No privacy! Kids' no where to run but up and down the halls. No where to play but in a paved parking lot. No where to eat but in a restaurant where none wanted to behave. Some vacation!

The family vacation is one time of the year when everyone should spend some time with each other. Where better than at a resort where there are enough activities to engage in as a family for everyone to have fun together. We want kids to remember the great vacation they had at Blue Water Acres with Mom or Dad or both.

campfire
